Welcome from the Program Director
Dr. Barbara Taylor
In its relatively short history, molecular biology has had a profound influence on medicine, environmental science, and other disciplines, and has spawned the development of a diverse biotechnology industry. Oregon State University's Professional Science Master's Degree Program in Applied Biotechnology was designed to provide students with specialized training that will enable them to be productive participants in the biotechnology sector. This program leads to an M.S. degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and it is founded on the core curriculum of the Molecular and Cell Biology program, which offers rigorous training in the fundamental theory and practice of molecular biology. The Applied Biotechnology Professional Science Master's track builds on this fundamental curriculum, adding training in areas where the emphasis in industrial laboratories differs from training needed to pursue a career in basic research.
I welcome you to our web site and encourage you to explore the descriptions of our degree programs, courses and faculty research. If you are excited by what you find, I encourage you to apply and join us for a foray into modern biotechnology.
