How to Get Involved
Professional Science Master’s degrees prepare graduates for employment outside academia.
An educated workforce grows economies and improves competitiveness.
Over ¾ of the PSM graduates from OSU remain in the Pacific Northwest.
Please support our vital programs by getting involved in one or more of the following activities:
Annual Workshop - OSU hosts an annual workshop which provides industry partners, OSU faculty and PSM students an opportunity to interact with one another. The workshop is a great way to get introduced to the program and network with colleagues. Your input and ideas regarding the PSM program can help shape curriculum for the future. Current PSM students join us for lunch and give presentations about their internship experiences, which provide you with direct connections to our program.
Case studies - In the final quarter of the first academic year (March-May), the PSM Professional Skills course uses case studies to integrate students' scientific skills with their communications, ethics, and business management training. We invite industry partners to work with a team of students on a current, real-world problem, which usually involves meeting with students once a week to introduce the project and provide mentoring. These projects are mutually beneficial because they provide companies with fresh perspectives on current challenges, and they give students opportunities to integrate their skills in meaningful ways. A final report and presentation are typically given on site, and we do not charge for this work. Please contact our program director if you have any ideas for a case study that might benefit your company.
Guest Lectures – Our PSM students are always interested in learning how their knowledge can be applied in the real world, and you can help by giving a guest lecture on a variety of topics. This also creates an opportunity to interact with students on a one-on-one basis. Please contact the PSM program coordinator to share your ideas!
Sponsorships - Financial support for the PSM program can be in the form of:
- A student scholarship – annual tuition for in-state students is currently $3,525 and is $5,415 for out of state students.
- Funding to deliver professional courses – it costs anywhere between $5,000-10,000 to offer a course at OSU, and we currently have eight PSM courses in business management, communications, ethics, and professional skills.
- Contributions to support special events – our annual PSM workshop as well as student connections in the fall and spring are important ways we continue building our PSM community at OSU.
Please contact the PSM program director to explore ways you might be able to support the OSU Professional Science Master's Program (541 737 5259).
